The College were unable to see out the match against a 10 man Armadale in a great clash at The Oriam. With both teams pushing for promotion, a close game was predicted before kick-off and it turned out this way with opening exchanges being very even. The first half finished goalless with Armadale perhaps shading the chances.

The second half started with The College taking the game to Armadale but Thistle took the lead on 57 minutes when a long ball evaded the College defenders and resulted in a good finish low into the corner. Only two minutes later, however, Armadale were reduced to 10 men after a poor over the ball challenge on Sam Kelly resulted in a red card.

The College got their reward for continuing to push forward when a short pass back from Thistle in the 75th minute resulted in the keeper bringing down Iain Laver in the box for a penalty. Sam Kelly converted for his 11th goal of the season.

The College pushed on for the winner and another defensive error from an Armadale defender allowed Sam Kelly’s through ball to reach Blair Ramage in who finished expertly low into the corner of the net for his 5th goal of the season.

It looked as though The College were going to secure the victory but a free kick into the box in the 95th minute was only half cleared and a speculative shot from the edge of the box was deflected in by a College defender to give Armadale a share of points.
