An understrength Edinburgh College suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Fauldhouse in a competitive affair in the second round of the King Cup.

Fauldhouse got off to a great start with a goal in the 4th minute when a weak shot squirmed underneath the keeper. It had been a bright start for Fauldhouse who had forced a series of corners early on.

Sam Kelly equalised in the 8th minute as the College started to find their feet on a horrible, wet surface.

Fauldhouse took the lead again in the 16th minute from a breakaway down the right side and the striker found the net from 4 yards out.

The College equalised again in the 32nd minute when an Andy Dempster through ball saw Sam Kelly take it round the keeper for his second of the game.

Fauldhouse took the lead for a third time in the 43rd minute when a long throw wasn’t dealt with by the College defence and resulted in a tap in at the far post.

A harsh second yellow on 51 minutes for Andy Dempster saw the College reduced to 10 men which then signalled the beginning of a niggly second half. Fauldhouse were then reduced to 10 men in the 63 min when their centre half received a second yellow for a blatant pull back on a College player on the half way line.

A second yellow card for Jonny Kay for pulling back a Fauldhouse player on a breakaway reduced the College to 9 men and the game ended with a narrow victory for the home team.

The College probably deserved more out of the game which was played in treacherous conditions but hopefully some of the injuries in the squad begin to clear up in the coming weeks.
